Upcoming Biking and camping trip - preview

Finally got my bullet first service done and its time to ride the ghats section of western ghats. Now I can think of opening her a little on the highway and tune her for even more upcoming rider mania ride.

Ady my long time biker buddy and shobhit another biker buddy are coming for the trip along with me. So what is unique about this trip for me, here are few things to begin with
1:We are not gonna to stay in hotel, but pitch our tents and camp in the wild, though we will have guest house .
2:I think this will be India's first classic 500(two of them, mine and Ady's) long trip ride
3:For the first time, I will be traveling with so many gears, riding + camping
4:I also plan to keep in touch with my running habit so planning to get some hill training.

Also ady has done lot of solo trips to pondy, kudremukh and it will be good occasion to catch up with all the gossip and confirm the rumours.

Equipments I am planning to carry
1: 7'*5' ultra portable tent
2: Sleeping bag

My travel plans for next two months starting 19th dec 2009

So these days I am making a fool of myself by running in my leg and running in my bike..too much of running.. well for the newbies, I am preparing for mumbai full marathon so need to run and week after that I am riding to vikramgad(120 km north of mumbai) from bangalore to participate in ridermania 2010(www.rmx.co.in)

I recently picked up my bike and I need to wear the engine slowly for first 3000 kms which also marks the second service of the bike. Before second service driving bike at high speeds for long duration will reduce the life span of the engine.

With that this is what my next two months looks like

19th, 20th dec: going to Coorg for running.

25th, 26th and 27th dec: doing bike riding trip of 1300 kms in 3 days... biking trip at kudremukh, chikmagalur region..best part is that we will camping for 2 night at 2 different places..total wilderness, this will be my first camping trip. http://www.motowhere.com/maps/route/13842

31st Dec, 1st and 2nd Jan: New years at hampi by train

16th & 17th : Mumbai marathon, running full marathon, flying both ways

21st jan to 25th Jan: riding to rider mania from bangalore to 120 north of mumbai and back. will be visiting ajanta ellora.

13th and 14th feb: pondicherry auroville, running half marathon.

Cost of this trip should be around inclusive of everything should be approx
2500 for coorg
4000 for kudremukh + 4000 for buying camping gears which include tent and sleeping bag
5000 for hampi
7000 for mumbai marathon includes flight tickets
9000 for rider mania including registration
2000 for pondycherry trip

Total 30500

how to download attachment more than 2.9 mb in blackberry

Hi,

I am new blackberry 8900 curve user, got vodafone unlimited plan. I had this particular problem in downloading attachment greater than 2.9 mb.
Situation - When you are linking your gmail and other email account to blackberry email service and your particular email contains more than 2.9 mb of attachment, it wont open.

Problem : If you are using blackberry internet service, then the maximum limit to email attachment is 2.9 mb.
if you are on blackberry enterprise server then the default attachment size is 3 mb, which can be changed by system admin of BES.

I am referring to problem when you are using BIS, its impossible to download it. blame it to RIM people but if you have a wi-fi connection then there is a work around.
Step 1: Use blackberry hotspot browser instead of blackberry internet browser.
Step 2: Forward the mail which you want to open in your gmail account and login into gmail account in hotspot browser ( I haven't tried on other email service like yahoo or hotmail)
Step 3: Switch the email view to basic html in gmail, its given on the downmost part
Step 4: click on attachment and then you will get the link scan and download option.

Remember you need to gmail account(other may also work) and wi-fi connection.

Have fun

Bullet Classic 500 - First day 4th december, 2009

The history behind buying this bike is simple. I am a biker and will always remain biker even though life is catching up with me, I thought one last attempt to own a masterpiece should be given a honest attempt.

It was other day only when I disclosed to my parents that I want to buy one more bullet. They thought either I have lost it and its a good joke to freak them out a little. But after sometime they realized its not a joke and I am serious about it. They accepted the decision 'coz thats the way my image is built around my parents by none other but by me only.

In the hindsight during last 5 years I have owned machismo 350, machismo LB 500, Standard 350. Every time promising them that this is the last bike and then next thing in my life will be Car.

Anyways looks like this time it will be last bike which should last forever as I myself see the value of having a car when you are ready to get married and have a family.

Finance - Price INR 1.43 lacs. I just know from my past experience how much EMI sucks just like the mosquito suck the blood and life out of you slowly. So I was hell bent on paying 1.43 lacs without any finance and i was finding it little tough 'coz I just came out of one year break from regular high paying job and still recovering from the one year of break financially. But still it was manageable given I cut down on my expenses for 2 months.

Finally I went on 4th of november with my girlfriend to showroom for booking the bike. I always have thing was black color but this turquoise color was catching my attention in the photos. So when we went to see the bike in showroom within seconds it was decided that we both like turquoise color.

And after one month of waiting I got the delivery y'day and ever since I lost my sleep thinking of himalaya, rajasthan and highways, rain, tea, camping in the wild and what not

Upcoming Munnar Thekkady Bike Trip - 19th to 21st sept 2009

Well my one year break from mainstream job is over and I am already into 3rd month of another mainstream job but its so cool that I am loving it. All this is not without mentioning that the one year of lovely Jaago re! campaign has its huge side effects in my personal life. I didn't doing any bike trip as a matter of fact I hardly did any trip, no running, not much of football too :(((
So after a hiatus of more than a year I noticed there are lot of long weekends coming up which are ideal for bike trips. It was time to ring up old friend and brief them about my intention and apparently even they were looking forward to do some trip.

So on a quick conference we decided to go to Thekkady & Munnar this coming weekend. As I newly got my 70-300 mm lenses and this will be the first trip with this lenses, both these places offer excellent opportunity to learn some nature photography.

Well for the plan, I am copy pasting the mail which I sent to Ady and raj. I will update the travelogue and pics once I make it back to Bangalore safely.

19th Thekkady sight seeing, we have to be at periyar reserve forest around 5.30 am to get the upper deck in big boat for good photography. Looks like the boat starts at 7am and ends at 11 am
19th night halt@ Munnar
20th morning Munnar sightseeing, lot of places to see.
21st morning - Head back to Bangalore early morning through different route

Taking a 20 km de-tour to see only and only Meenakshi Temple at madurai.

Return Journey - Munnar - Udumalaipettai(65) - Pollachi(92) - Coimbatore(130)(from Coimbatore we can two possible routes depending upon energy and enthu)

Places to see
Eravikulam
This is a must visit place in Munnar for all animal and nature lovers. The park is situated around 8KMs from the munnar town. You can drive down to the base of the park in your vehicle or one of the autos(you have to see them climbing the steepy hills!!). From here you will have to go to the top of the hill where the Eravikulam National park is situated on one of the buses provided by the park. The park is home to the Nilgiri tahr - an endangered goat species. At the start of the 20th centuary only 100 of these beautiful animals were left after being almost destroyed by hunting and poaching. Since then the nilgiri Tahr has been included in the list of endangered species. Efforts are being made to prevent the extinction of this wild goat like many other endangered species. With the efforts of the park officials and others involved in saving the Nilgiri Tahr the population has increased to above 1600 and around 700 of them reside in this park. The park is spread across 100 sq KMs and is claimed to be one of the cleanest national parks in India. The entry tickets to the park cost Rs 35/- for Indians and Rs 200/- for foreign nationals. Incase you are carrying a camera you would have to shell out Rs 25/- for a still camera and Rs 200/- for a Video camera.

Mattupetty
14 KMs from the Munnar Town, at a height of 1700m, is situated Mattupetty. It is known for its highly specialized dairy farm - Indo Swiss LiveStock project. Mattupetty lake and dam are just a KM from this farm. One can do boat riding and speed boating. I suggest trying out speed boat.
It is really thrilling to ride the speed boat on the waves created by another speed boat. There is an option to hire a speed boat that can accommodate 4-6 people or hire one for a couple only. The boat ride will be only for 15 Minutes but the adrenalin rush during those 15 minutes is amazing. You will scream and shout and after those 15 minutes you will feel really relaxed in beauty of the lake and tea gardens around it.

Top Station
Top Station is nearly 34 Kms from Munnar Town and 33KMs of this is a real good road. This place offers a "panoramic view" of the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu but remains covered with mist most of the time.

Devikulam
Around 7 KMs from Munnar Town is situated a charmingly simple and serene place, Devikulam. It is covered with Tea Plantation and provides a load of opputunity for photographers. The Sita Devi Lake in Devikulam is a good picnic spot and ideal for fishing.

Munnar - Thekkady

From Munnar, Thekkady is 110Kms. The road is pretty good for the first 85 Kms but quite narrow. The last 25Kms are in bad shape and you can't drive at more than 20-30KMpH

Places to See

Periyar Lake

Nature Walk at Thekkady ( Periyar) Different nature trails traversing diverse habitats form the trekking routes, generally 4 to 5 Km. in length. This program offers excellent opportunity to watch birds, butterflies and other wildlife. The trails pass through evergreen and moist deciduous forests interspersed with marshy grasslands. A maximum of 5 persons can go for trekking at a time along each nature trail, accompanied by a trained tribal guide. The nature walk is the right program to feel nature, her whispers and smell her flowers.

Cheers,

Rajesh Choudhary
